We can agree that online casting for live entertainment and events has reached a new level. Artists submit their materials in email or online forms daily. In a few clicks, you can view talent across the globe. It is awesome until we spend 3 hours a day manually copying and pasting YouTube links in yet another spreadsheet.
After thousands of emails, hours sifting through downloads, & countless Saturday nights squinting at our screens - we yearn for an easier way to manage online casting. But does a better system exist?
While digital tools have brought us instant sharing of video links, casting directors are buried under mountains of files and a maze of Excel sheets. We must wonder if digital innovation is the solution or if we should all return to the paper system.
I'm here to tell you that our casting processes are evolving into a new era. There is a better way than manually entering data into a CRM. There is a better way than a spreadsheet full of links. Until now, there hasn't been a beautiful platform to SEE talent profile photos, videos, PDFs, availability calendars, assessment notes, correspondence, and auditions' history in one place.
No, I am not talking about some glorified chart on AirTable.
I am talking about JamarGig. It is newly launched and already freeing fingers from tedious data entry. The technology to automate data entry and present media into a beautifully designed platform for casting teams has arrived.
Jamargig also eliminates various submission annoyances for both talent and casting teams. There is an issue of talent submitting incomplete or poor-quality profiles. Then, the secondary issue of file management (file size, download issues, zip.) is how to store this. Jamargig provides a solution to these issues (how exactly will I get into a different post).
The point is that a better way is possible. Our industry is moving forward, as we will explore in future posts. More so, the pending Digital Revolution will enable us to achieve more extraordinary things than just freeing up our Saturday nights from file management.
